Biography

Betty Pennell is a graduate of the School of Illustration at the Royal College of Art where her tutors were Edward Bawden and John Nash.  Her Professor Richard Guyatt at the time regarded illustration as a fine art and allowed her a period of attachment to the School of Painting.  Here, taught by Carel Weight, Robert Buhler and John Minton, she found a new world opening up. She has exhibited her paintings and drawings in Britain and America for many years and her engravings have been published in books and private press editions.
